description Burlingame Campground is situated next to Watchaug Pond in Charlestown. This spacious campground features 700 rustic campsites, as well as 20 cabins. The campground features conveniently located restrooms with shower facilities, a playground, arcade, freshwater beach, boat ramp, canoe rentals and hiking trails. The Campstore carries a wide variety necessities, along with a large selection of souvenirs. Kimball Wildlife Sanctuary The Audubon Society operates the nearby Kimball Wildlife Sanctuary , a 29 acre property located on the southern shore of Watchaug Pond. The Sanctuary abuts Burlingame State Park and trails lead from the campground to the sanctuary. Throughout the year, educational and fun programs are held for birders, families, and anyone who wants to learn more about the natural world.
drivingDirection The entrance to the park headquarters and camping area is off Route 1 in Charlestown. From Connecticut Points North - Route 95 North to exit 92 (in CT), at end of exit ramp take right onto CT Route 2. Proceed 1.5 miles and take right onto Route 78. Follow Route 78 until end; take left at light onto Route 1. Proceed 7.5 miles, follow signs into campground. From Rhode Island Points North- Route 95 South to exit 9 (Route 4), Route 4 South becomes Route 1 South. Continue approximately 26 miles, take second Burlingame State Park exit. From Points East - Proceed west over the Newport/Jamestown bridges, take Route 138 West to Route 1 South. Continue approximately 18 miles, take second Burlingame State Park exit.

importantInformation KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! Campsite Primary Occupant 1. Must be present to check in and register for the campsite and must be 18 years of age or older. 2. Must present valid government issued photo identification and a valid vehicle registration and if necessary the camper registration. 3. Must list the first and last names of camping party as only the names listed are allowed to occupy the campsite. 4. Responsible for compliance of the rules and regulations of the RI DEM. Campground Information No person shall possess, drink, sell or offer for sale any alcoholic beverages in campgrounds operated by the State of RI. The possession or use of all classes of fireworks, bow and arrows or firearms is also prohibited in campgrounds operated by the State of RI. Electric, sewer and water hookups are not available. The 20 cabins available at Burlingame State Park are rustic cabins that include two bunk beds with springs/board for the base. Mattresses and bedding are not provided. Air mattresses are strongly recommended. Quiet Hours: 10:00 PM – 7:00 AM. Generator Quiet Hours: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM (No Exceptions). Pet Policy Burlingame State Campground welcomes family pets (cats and dogs) that are well socialized, friendly and happy. If there is any doubt in your mind that your pet meets these criteria, please leave them at home. 1. Only two (2) pets per campsite are allowed. A current Rabies vaccination license is required and a Pet Certification Form must be completed and submitted at the time of arrival. 2. Pets must be on a leash, no more than 6 feet, at all times. 3. Pets may not be left unattended in your RV, on your site, or in any vehicle, as to disturb others while you are away. Excessive barking is a disturbance. 4. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pet(s). Pet owners who are not in compliance will be asked to leave the campground with no refund. 5. Pets are not permitted at any RI State Beaches. Occupancy Policy Occupancy of the campsite is required on the first night of the reservation. A campsite unoccupied during this initial period is declared a no show and will be reassigned with all payment forfeited. Please call the campground if you are going to be late arriving for your reservation. Only one family (immediate family) is allowed per campsite. Non-family groups shall be limited to six persons per campsite. Cancellation Policy Cancellations or changes to a reservation will be assessed a fee of $10.00 and MUST BE made by 8:00 PM the day prior to your scheduled arrival date. Failure to cancel or change by this deadline will result in forfeiture of your entire payment. Please contact Reserve America at 1.877.742.2675 or log into your Reserve America account. Refund Policy Refunds will not be issued for weather, site conditions, no-shows, cancellations or early departures on or after the arrival date. Violations Customers that misrepresent information in order to circumvent reservation policies will not be accommodated upon arrival at the campground. Violation of any rule and/or regulation is grounds for revocation of the camping permit. If a permit is revoked, no refund will be issued. Any person or persons voided on a camping permit are not allowed to reenter any camping area for the duration of the camping season. All reservation policies and restrictions apply to Internet customers. Prior to finishing a reservation transaction, the Internet customer is asked to "agree" to all the terms given. Refunds are not available for misunderstanding of terms.
